John Bullen
John Bullen November 18, 1931 -
October 19, 2001
John was born Nov. 18,
1931 in Dubuque, to Harold and Mary DeViney Bullen. He
graduated from Charles City High school in 1949 and served
with the United States Navy from 1950-1954 in the Korean
Conflict. He graduated from Iowa State Teacher's
College in Cedar Falls in 1959. On Dec. 13, 1952 he
married Helen Ferguson at Charles City. He taught math
in the Iowa Falls School System until his retirement in
1989. John was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church;
the Benevolent and Protective order of the Elks; the
American Legion Post 188; and the Veteran of Foreign Wars
post No. 8708 of Iowa Falls. He is survived by his
wife Helen, of Iowa Falls; two sons Michael and wife Linda,
of Marshalltown, and Daniel and wife Beth of Ames; three
daughters Amy Campbell and husband, Bruce of Davenport,
Jananne Burns and husband, Douglas, of Urbandale, and
Suzanne Starbeck and husband Scot of Cedar Falls; 13
grandchildren; a sister Mary Ann Alter and husband, Wayne,
of Marion; a brother Jerome Bullen of Nashua; and a
brother-in-law, Leo Fisher of West Liberty. He was
preceded in death by his parents, a brother James and a
sister, Margaret Fisher. Linn's Funeral Home in
Iowa Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
IOWA FALLS-John Bernard Bullen, 69, of Iowa Falls, died
Friday, Oct 19, 2001, at Mary Greeley Center in Ames. A
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, October 22, at the
St. Marks Catholic
Church Iowa
Falls, with burial in St. Mark's cemetery. Military honors
were provided by Hyman-Peavey American Legion, Post 188,
Iowa falls. Memorials may be directed to the American
Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
