Merle Christensen, 64, of Iowa Falls, passed away
Monday, November 30, 2015 at Israel Family Hospice in
Ames. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday,
December 5, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in
Iowa Falls. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery, Iowa
Falls. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday, December
4, 2015 at the Woodley Funeral Home. Woodley Funeral
Home, LLC of Iowa Falls is caring for Merle and his

Merle Allan Christensen was born January 12, 1951 in Iowa Falls, Iowa to Volney and Corrine (Bridges) Christensen. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School and received his AA degree from Ellsworth Community College. On September 4, 1969 he joined the Marine Corp and served until August of 1971. On October 21, 1995 he was united in marriage to Janet Simpson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Merle worked at Winnebago Industries for a short time then went to Farmland Foods for thirteen years. Following that he worked at Electrolux in Webster City, Iowa for twenty two years, retiring in 2011. Merle was a simple man who enjoyed life. He liked to play the drums and ride his motorcycle. Above all, he loved to spend time with the grandchildren. He was not one to complain, but always determined. Merle is survived by his wife, Janet Christensen of Iowa Falls, Iowa; two sons, Kevin (Kendra) Christensen of Iowa Falls, Iowa and Kyle Christensen of Iowa Falls, Iowa; step children, Jeff (Theresa) Vanatter of Coralville, Iowa, Tony (Sabrina) Vanatter of Iowa Falls, Iowa and Tina Anderson of Williams, Iowa; grandchildren: Zakk and Ravyn Christensen, Chaz, Taylor, and Kylie Vanatter, Zoe Vanatter, Charli Anderson and Angelina Flannigan; his father, Volney Christensen of Iowa Falls, Iowa and a sister, Trudy Iljazi of Iowa Falls, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his mother, Corrine Christensen.
